A Deal With the Devil

With every passing day, the centrifuges are allowed to spin…..Iran is a day closer to waging a nuclear holocaust against Israel. Meanwhile, the western diplomats, politicians, and power brokers are content with yet another round of talks. The folks at the UN, EU, State Dept, and IAEA, are quick to pose for the photo opportunity. They enter negotiations with looks of grave concern, and furrowed brows, and then emerge from meetings clasping the hands of the enemy and smug smiles as though they just achieved world peace.  The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif is smiling ear to ear, and it’s no wonder why. In the world of political brinksmanship, the west has bet the farm and asked for nothing in return. While the western diplomats sleep, other people are sounding the alarm. Benjamin Netanyahu, some conservative congressmen, and certainly Christians who understand Bible prophecy are sounding the alarm, as they see the west making a deal with the devil.

In this article, we will touch on the prophetic implications of a fanatical Iranian regime going nuclear. First, let’s look at the facts concerning the players in this deal with the devil. With political leanings aside, I am trying to comprehend how the US. President could allow for, let alone push for a nuclear deal with Iran that does nothing to secure a future that guarantees Iran will not go nuclear. On the contrary, the US is brokering a deal that allows Iran to enrich uranium in steps and intervals. The thinking here is, if Iran plays by the rules then the west will ease the economic sanctions that are in place.

The big issue here is the intellectual blindness that has engulfed the six world powers who are brokering this nuclear deal with Iran. The US, UK, Germany, France, Russia, and China are bringing us to the point of no return and it’s only a matter of time before Iran acquires a nuclear weapon. Here’s why I referred to the intellectual blindness of the negotiators. It is because they refuse to see that they are dealing with a rogue regime that has threatened over and over to wipe Israel off of the map. I believe china and Russia have self-interest and darker motives for wanting a deal with Iran, but that doesn’t account for the motivation of the other players. Perhaps this is some sort of liberal utopian pipe dream of being able to say that true peace was achieved on our watch. When I see John Kerry, Susan Ashton (EU), and Iran’s Zarif all smiling as they pose for another photo, I can’t help but think of Neville Chamberlain’s words summing up his meeting with Hitler and spoken upon his arrival in London.

“My good friends, this is the second time there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now I recommend you go home, and sleep quietly in your beds.”    Neville Chamberlain  –  September 1938

It seems as though these folks truly believe that if they negotiate hard enough, they will ensure peace with Iran and that the mullahs, ayatollah, and the regime in Iran will not make good on destroying Israel, what unfortunate foolishness.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu isn’t easily fooled and he has been warning the west of Iran’s evil intentions for quite some time. Here is what Netanyahu said regarding the Iran nuclear talks going on in Geneva this week:

“From the agreement that is forming it appears that they (world powers) have given up on that commitment and are accepting that Iran will gradually, within a few years, develop capabilities to produce material for many nuclear weapons,” he said. “They might accept this but I am not willing to accept this.”    Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Let’s just tell it like it is when it comes to the administration’s dealings with Prime Minister Netanyahu. The Prime Minister has been rebuffed at every opportunity by the White House. The President and State Dept. have become combative in speeches and comments regarding the Israeli PM. They announced that the PM would not be privy to certain negotiations with Iran only months ago. In recent weeks, the Administration has made an effort to undermine the Prime Minister in upcoming elections in Israel. This hostility toward Prime Minister Netanyahu is nothing short of misguided nonsense.

He is one of the few voices of reason in leadership telling the world in effect that there will be no peace with a nuclear Iran, only grave consequences. Prime Minister Netanyahu is coming to the United States next week to address the probable nuclear deal between Iran and the six world powers.

“It is my obligation as prime minister to do everything that I can to prevent this agreement; therefore, I will go to Washington to address the American Congress because the American Congress is likely to be the final brake before the agreement between the major powers and Iran.”  – Netanyahu

It seems as though the US and EU are so focused on closing the deal in Geneva that they give very little thought about the ‘what if’s of a different outcome. What if Iran continues to enrich uranium and produce enough to build dozens or more weapons as Israel believes it will do? What would soon follow was an attempt to ‘make good on their word’ and attempt to wipe Israel off of the map. The Israelis are in no position to simply sit around and wait….hoping for the best. There is reason to believe that Israel would launch some type of preemptive strike to cripple Iran’s bomb-making ability and certainly set it back. If such a first strike is carried out, Eit may not be the end of hostilities, but set a greater conflict in motion.

Currently, there are numerous reports of Iranian operatives in Southern Syria and Lebanon. We know there are thousands of Iran’s proxy Hezbollah fighters on Israel’s northern border. In just the past few months there has been a flare-up of hostilities between the IDF and Hezbollah. The most recent estimate is that there are close to 100,000 rockets controlled by Hezbollah waiting to be used against Israel. The bottom line is this:  If hostilities do break out between Iran and Israel, things will deteriorate quickly.

What are the prophetic implications of the events in Europe, Israel, DC, and Iran? We cannot be certain because only God knows the exact way things will unfold. There is certainty in scripture and when we look at what the Bible says about Iran we can know that we are nearing the end times. Ezekiel 38 gives us the panorama of a large coalition of peoples coming down upon Israel from the north to invade Israel. Ultimately, Russia will be on the move against the land of Israel but it will be accompanied by other nations including Persia (Iran). These invaders will be coming against a land of unwalled villages and people who are dwelling securely.

From this scenario, we see it is different in Israel at the moment. She does not dwell securely and security barriers are the norm. The Ezekiel 38 scenario seems to follow after a series of events and perhaps a conflict in which Israel will greatly increase her security. Many Bible teachers believe the Psalm 83 conflict will proceed to the invasion in Ezekiel and I agree because there are certain conditions in place leading up to the invasion from the north.  Ezekiel 38: 1

In the meantime, we must watch, wait, and pray. We cannot look at the world the way that end-time scoffers do and chalk up the events in the Middle East to the same old thing always happening over there. Christians who understand bible prophecy know that the events being reported via the internet and nightly news are extremely significant. The fact that Iran is mentioned in the Bible as one of Israel’s adversaries in the end times and is trying to acquire a nuclear weapon to wipe Israel off of the map should be a prophetic wake-up call.

We need to stay in the word and look at what is happening in the geopolitical realm through the lens of scripture to get the proper perspective. We need to pray for the protection of the nation of Israel and that God’s will be done. We are also called to share the gospel.  The perilous times we live in leave many people without hope but we have the hope of salvation through our Lord. My prayer for our readers, friends, and others is that many will find salvation through our presenting the gospel of Jesus and that many Jewish friends will trust Jesus as their Messiah.

As a final thought, keep your eyes on the agreement likely being forged in Geneva this week (a deal with the devil), as I think it will prove to be the point of no return in the chance for Iran to go nuclear. Take time next week to watch Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu as he speaks before congress at the capitol on Tuesday.

All for Him,

Howard
